One good reason for a healthier lifestyle: toes
1. I like having toes.
2. I want to see my toes.
3. I want to paint the nails on my toes without discomfort.
I imagine each of you scratching your head trying to figure out the first one. Basically, I just mean that I don't want to get diabetes. This disease runs in my family and I have seen first-hand the effects it can have on your body. When I was in high school, my aunt passed away due to complications of diabetes. She was diagnosed with the disease when she was only 13. There wasn't anything she could have done to prevent the disease, and by the time she passed away she had already been through numerous surgeries for her heart and feet. My aunt never complained about the hand she was dealt...in fact, she often made all of her doctors laugh because she would tie a little bow around the toe that was to be removed in the upcoming surgery.
There wasn't anything she could have done to avoid the health issues she encountered, but I have a choice. I'm pretty sure that I will work myself into becoming a diabetic if I continue on the path I've been on. So, I'm making the choice to change course, and hopefully avoid this terrible disease.
Number two and three are pretty self-explanatory. I want to see more of my toes, and I want to be able to paint my toes in pretty colors without holding my breath. Anyone who's overweight will know what I'm talking about there. Ha!
