It's official, folks!
I have finally entered the "I own an iPhone" club, and boy am I excited! Not only is this my first official item that I'm crossing off of the 30x30 list...in a way, this is also fulfilling a childhood dream that I had.
Okay, maybe not a childhood dream...but a dream that I've had for quite some time, at least.

You see, I've wanted an iPhone even before the iPhone existed.
How is that possible, you might ask? Well...do you remember those days when MP3 players were the hottest technological gadget on the market? I'm one of those weird people who never really bought into the whole thing. In fact, as all of my friends were showing off their iPods and Zune's I thought they were crazy for adding another piece of equipment that needed to be hauled around in their purses.
This was also back in the days when hand-held digital cameras were really taking off too. Since cell phone cameras were pretty terrible at the time, it wasn't too big of a surprise to see girls carrying around their cells, digital cameras, and their music players.
Hmmm...perhaps this is why really big purses came back into style...
Back in those days, I dreamed about a device that was a digital camera, MP3 player, and cell phone all in one. I told myself that once a product like that existed in the market, then I would take the plunge to make the purchase because it would be everything I needed!
Well, that day came when Apple released the first iPhone...but what I hadn't considered was the fact that my dream device would be so expensive! Sure, Paris Hilton had no problem forking over the $600-$700 bones for the latest-and-greatest...but I was left in a pickle.
And so, I waited...and I waited...and I waited...
Year after year, Apple released new versions of the iPhone, and each year the newest model was just enough to make the old version feel outdated.
I just couldn't do it!
As much as I wanted an iPhone, I just couldn't justify the price of being in the "I own an iPhone" club. I guess I'm just not a die-hard Apple product fan. I refuse to wait in long lines for the "big reveal," regardless of how much hype is in the air.
But this year, I had a feeling my waiting would come to an end. I've had my eye on the 4S since the time it was released, so when I started to hear rumors of the release of the iPhone 5 I thought this might be my chance (since I knew they'd be discounting the old model to make room to sell the new model). Plus, I'll be honest in saying everything I had heard about the new iPhone wasn't all that impressive (this is just my opinion though).
Just give me a personal assistant (aka. Siri), and I'm good. Who cares about the bigger screen, right?
I couldn't have been happier when Mark forwarded me an ad from Frys Electronics showing the 4S on sale for $50 for a 16 GB, $100 for a 32 GB, and $150 for a 64 GB! By the next day, I walked out of Frys with two 32 GB iPhones for less than I nearly paid for one (I was about to splurge and pay $250 for a 32 GB)!
It's taking me a little while to learn the ropes, but so far, I have to admit that I'm liking this phone much better than my Android. Though, I liked the navigation and the text keyboard that included punctuation icons on the same screen, I absolutely love the functionality of the iPhone!
Did you know that apps are actually like little websites? I never new this because on my Droid apps always seemed to be so limited.
Take Pinterest for example...
I never could find a good app for Pinterest on my Droid, but the iPhone app is even better than the website itself! I've also found a great app called Feedly that keeps all of my RSS feeds in one location and displays them almost like a magazine.
Umm...hello?
Best magazine ever!!! Young House Love, Centsational Girl, Tatertots and Jello, Thrifty Decor Chick...(and-on-and-on-and-on)...all in one place...flipped through page-by-page!!! I'm in absolute heaven!
So, needless to say, I'm pretty stoked about crossing this item off the list...and I'm currently working on crossing off another...

Man, I've got so many things that I need to finally get up on the blog! I've been actually been a pretty busy girl over the last few weeks, though my posting doesn't show it.
I've got a few shopping trips to post about...I'm right in the middle of two really big projects...and I even have some new home decor items to show you. Actually...I have a lot of new home decor items to show you! Some are from Target, Home Goods and Ikea, and some are from Craigslist and an amazing thrift store shop I'm going to tell you about.
Check out my Instagram feed (@ahappyplacecalledhome) for a sneak peak at one of my favorite new items in my home. It's another project for me, but I can't wait to tackle it!

Yay, welcome to the iPhone club! Other than standard phone & email stuff, the Pinterest app is probably the most used on my phone, with Yelp as a close second.
You're doing great with your 30 before 30 list!
Thanks Nichole!
I'm definitely liking the transition so far. I'm glad that I waited patiently for a good deal, but now I also realize what I was missing out on this whole time!
I'll be sure to check out Yelp. I've also been enjoying the Realtor.com app. You know me and my wishful thinking about moving to a state that has more than just cacti and gravel as landscaping options! Lol! So far, I've been all over the east coast!

Awesome! I haven't gotten the Realtor.com app yet, but I too have a love of looking through homes for sale in other areas. I've been using the Zillow app for that, and I think that CraigsPro is a great alternative for Craigslist on the iPhone.
Ooooh! Craigslist! I'm really in trouble now, haha!
