Wow! Tomorrow marks the 1-year Blogiversary of A Happy Place Called Home! I can't believe I've already made an entire circle around the sun sharing my DIY adventures with each of you...and holy smokes, blogging has been such and adventure in itself!
To celebrate making it through my first year, I've lined up a series of posts to share information on what my blogging experience has been like. If you've browsed through my bio page, you've learned that I wasn't always a blog-enthusiast...but once I learned more about what it truly means to be a blogger it didn't take long for me to become a believer.
I started this journey with skepticism...in fact, I feel a little like those girls you see going on The Bachelor. When you play back the whole series, you watch them progress from "I'm not so sure about this, but I came here to find love," to, "I'm so in love! He's the man of my dreams!" ...And just like on The Bachelor, it only took me about two episodes before I completely fell in love with blogging.
I'm guessing some of you are curious about blogging yourselves. You might wonder if it's worth the time, or if it's too cliche' since "everyone does it." But I found before I could even wrap my head around those questions, I had to start with how to even do it in the first place.
So here's the skinny...this week put those questions in the back of your mind and take a little journey with me to learn what it's like out here in the blog-o-sphere. I've got a series of topics lined up to give you an insiders look at what my personal experience has been like...plus, since I still consider myself the new-kid-on-the-block, I'll be featuring posts my fellow bloggers have shared with their readers!
Here's what the line-up will look like:
Sorry, I'm too much of a Type-A personality to leave you hanging with those barely readable sub-headers...allow me to clarify (if you have eyes like an eagle and could read those subtitles, feel free to skip the italics)...
Tuesday will focus on starting a blog, common obstacles, and realistic expectations about blogging.
Wednesday will discuss the process for developing your blog, creating your brand, and juggling life as a blogger.
Thursday will review the techy aspect behind blogging...namely, platforms, site hosting, as well as helpful widgets, plug-ins, and apps.
Friday will wrap everything up with my own review of my first year of blogging (something like a self-evaluation). I'll mention my highlights, as well as my pitfalls...plus some shout-outs to the folks who helped me out along the way. But Friday is also big because it's your chance to share too. I'll be hosting a link party for you to share your favorite tips, or even just fun projects you've been working on lately.
I'm hoping that by the end of this week you'll have more insight for what being a blogger is all about. I'd also love your input along the way. Feel free to ask me questions, or even share your own experiences...and on Friday, be sure to stop by to show off your latest projects at my link party.
If you're new to my blog, be sure to check out my bio page for a bit of the back-story behind this blog. I'll be referencing a few of the details, but it will give you a better idea about my background and how I happened upon blogging. You can also read through this post and this post for more about my journey into the blog-o-sphere.
I'm no different than anyone out there. I had all of the same questions. I wondered if blogging would be tedious, boring, or just another thing that I would start and then fail...but I also knew that I saw the world in a different way than some. Just like musicians hear music in the rain, I see the art in life. For me, blogging is simply using words and a camera to show that art to others.
Thank you for allowing me to share with you, every step of the way!
