I Heart My New Logo!

Today I was spending some time trying to come up with a solution for my site logo and I think I've finally got it!  Since I started up this website I've already gone through several logos, so I thought it would be fun to take a little trip down memory lane to show you how the logo has progressed.

Here is where it all started:

My original website was a solid turquoise color, and the logo was extremely simple but I didn't like that there were only words and no images....so...back to the drawing board.

Here I added an image to the logo from clipart.  I then changed the properties on the image so that it faded into the background, but a few things still were bothering me.  First, the big smiley face peeking over the roof was kinda creepy actually, and second, the fact that I had used four different fonts in typing five words was pretty lame...so...back to the drawing board.

Here I removed the cheesy smiley face from the image, changed the font on "A" to match the font on "place," and highlighted the words "happy," and "called home," in maroon so that they would have some contrast with the site (remember, I didn't have the bright colored background at this time).  But then I actually found the bright colored theme for the site that I felt matched the image I was looking for better than the turquoise colored one.  I loved that this background felt energetic and happy...considering my site is called A Happy Place Called Home, I thought this might suit the site better.  But with the new site background I now needed a new logo...so...back to the drawing board.

For this one, I edited the background image colors to match the site and changed the colors on the highlighted words.  But after a while I started to feel like my logo should be a bit more modern...so...back to the drawing board.

I really liked this one until I added it to the site and saw how it looked with everything else.  You can see that I changed the fonts again so that "a happy" and "called home" were in the same font.  I liked the way that this looked because it simplified things a bit.

I also changed the background image, but when I added this logo to the site it really just felt like it was a logo for some type of recycling company.  Though I am pro-recycling I didn't feel that it fit the theme of my website...so...back to the drawing board.

Finally!  A logo that will stick.  I started to lean toward these images after finding the work of Valentina that I posted about here.  I found her images of birds and trees to be so inspiring, and then it dawned on me...birds live in trees.  A tree is a bird's home!  It was perfect!

Well...at least I thought it was.  Here are a few renditions of my logo that you will see me use throughout different areas on this site:

Now that that is settled I can finally focus more on just blogging!  I feel like I'm moving like a turtle here because I've been spending time on all of these "set up" items, but overall I am happy with the way things are turning out, and I look forward to having everything presentable for my readers.
