Get to know Kelli
Hi everyone! I come from a small town in south-east Arizona, and my interest in design actually began in the 8th grade. My middle school had us take 9-week rotational classes that year, one of which happened to be drafting. In the class we had an assignment to draft a house using graph paper and a ruler. It's crazy to say, but that one assignment changed my life forever, because I instantly fell in love with the concept of space planning and design.
In 2005, I married my husband, Mark, and in 2009 we bought our very first house. Since that time, this blog has captured the many adventures we've tackled to make our house a happy home.
I have an Undergraduate degree in Interior Design from Northern Arizona University, and a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Originally, my plan was to work within commercial architecture, designing restaurants, hotels, and the like ... but due to the 2008 economy, my life took a slight detour with a corporate job that paid the bills, and left me in search of a creative outlet.
In December, 2010, I wrote my first blog post -- and on April 10th, 2011, I finally released my web link to my friends and family on Facebook. For my first year, I blogged solo -- but I felt another voice was needed to take this blog to the next level. So, in the fall of 2012, I invited my best friend, Jana to join me as co-writer of A Happy Place Called Home. The rest is history!
